I've looked at all my refrence shots for tthis before and the best I can come up with is not all of the helmets have them. Some of the shots show a black spot on the top of the helmet which I think is the shadow of the bump but it's so slight it's hard to tell. So far I have yet to see a clear shot of it. It's one of the things I intend to look for once the WSMI show gets to my area, though i'm fairly sure that suit is one of the ones without the bump.

I just can picture now somebody imagining stuff for the Expanded Universe stuff going something like this:
"The nipple on the top of the helmets is for rank..."

This is where I first noticed the nipple and decided to go that way:

Hello TS-150,

Nice Armor, please post the pics after you have acquired your gloves and hand armor. As Ian said you need to get a wider belt. (I'm using a 2" wide White Patent Leather Belt for my soon to be completed Snowtrooper Commander costume  )

Hey Piero,

Can it be that "nipple" was caused LFL's prop maker's pull on the Snowtrooper Commander's helmet?

Yeah good one, nipple on the top crown of the Helmet Dome signifies rank! and I thought that the 2 Greeblies on the side of the Helmet and Sculpted Face Cowl was sufficient! 8)
